Pre- and Post-Release Programs
Situation: The prison system releases inmates woefully unprepared to make the transition to freedom. Currently, incarcerated are released without proper guidance, without employable or marketing skills, and without Commitment, Hope, and Empowerment.
Today’s approach is ineffective and costly: billions of dollars are wasted on housing prisoners who swiftly return to incarceration. Truth is, the costs of criminal activities go beyond fiscal concerns. Each prisoner represents a family who must struggle to get by without their loved one. Each inmate is a tax liability rather than an earner. Each repeat offender is an additional risk to public safety.
Task: We must break the recidivism cycle and build strong work habits.
Action: Our programs lead participants to Commitment, Hope, Empowerment, and employment. Programs must be active, holistic, and sensitive to this specific demographic where participants are taught vital job seeking skills: professional networking tactics, résumé and cover letter construction, how to master the interview, and the special considerations for job seekers with a record.
Our ultimate task is to modify belief systems, allowing participants to be convinced that they deserve a bright future, and be given the tools needed to plan for and achieve their goals—in short, they become empowered.
Result: The outcome of our 18-book, multi-month courseware? Empowered graduates break the cycle by finding inner strength, commitment to remaining on their path, hope for a future where personal and professional dreams can become true, and a psychological shift where empowerment defines their path.
Ultimately, each participant freed from a lifetime of the negative side of our judicial system is another adult contributing to society and no longer a marginalized citizen.
